Universities, Colleges & Schools

AI training for universities, colleges and schools in Kenya.

FuKazee delivers hands-on AI training for education institutions in Kenya. Lecturers, teachers, heads of department and administrative teams learn to use generative AI for teaching preparation, research support and administration, with an institutional AI usage policy built in. Delivery is on campus or online. FuKazee has delivered AI training at the University of Nairobi.

The Difference

Why do education institutions need a different kind of AI training?

In a company, the training question is "how do we get staff to use AI well?" In a university or school there is a second question underneath it: "what do we teach our students about it?" A programme that only answers the first leaves academic staff with new tools and no institutional position to teach from.

  • The institution needs a written position. Clear rules on permitted and prohibited AI use in coursework, communicated to staff and students alike, are the foundation everything else rests on.
  • Teaching is the core workflow. Lesson and lecture preparation, feedback and differentiated material are where AI saves academic staff the most time, provided quality and the teacher's own voice are protected.
  • The administration runs the institution. Registry, admissions, finance, communications and HR carry a heavy document load that AI can lighten within the institution's data rules.

FuKazee approaches this from both sides. Its seven-module programme trains staff, and its own student-facing programmes, ScholarShift for postgraduate researchers and the KCSE programmes for candidates, mean the team works every week with the learners institutions are trying to guide.

Where It Applies

Where does AI help academic and administrative staff?

The workflow areas education teams practise on during training, chosen because they are repetitive, document-heavy, and safe to redesign without exposing student data.

01

Lesson and lecture preparation

Outlines, worked examples, case studies, revision material and differentiated versions for mixed-ability groups, always in the teacher's own voice and checked for accuracy.

02

Feedback and rubrics

Rubric drafting, feedback comment banks and consistency checks, with the grade and the final judgement staying with the marker.

03

Coursework design

Designing assignments and projects for a world where AI tools exist, and writing clear per-assignment guidance on permitted use that students can follow.

04

Research support

Literature searching and summarising, drafting and editing support, and grant applications, inside the research-integrity rules the institution sets.

05

Administration and registry

Correspondence, policies, minutes, admissions communication and reports, produced faster and finalised by the accountable officer.

06

Communications and marketing

Prospectus copy, newsletters, social content and parent or alumni communication, consistent in tone and reviewed before publication.

Policy

How do we set an institutional AI policy and protect student data?

Student records, grades, health and disciplinary information sit under Kenya's Data Protection Act and the institution's own policies. Training exercises use synthetic examples so no real student work or record is ever pasted into a tool during a session.

  • Permitted and prohibited use, in writing. Staff leave with a framework for institution-wide and per-course AI rules that students can actually follow.
  • Classification before tools. Which information may go into a public AI tool, which only into an approved controlled tool, and which must never leave the institution's systems.
  • An institutional usage policy. Module 7 leaves academic leadership, ICT and quality-assurance teams with policy material to adapt for staff and students.

FuKazee's own position on research integrity is written up in Using AI in postgraduate research without crossing the integrity line.

How It Runs

What does an engagement with a university or school look like?

1

Discovery

A short meeting with the vice-chancellor's office, principal, dean or HR to agree faculties, departments, outcomes and policy priorities.

2

Customisation

Modules and exercises rebuilt around the institution's disciplines, coursework types and administrative documents.

3

Delivery

On campus, at the school, online, or hybrid, in half-day sessions over two to four weeks, scheduled around the academic calendar.

4

Follow-up

Staff keep prompt libraries, coursework templates and policy material, with a follow-up check-in after the next teaching block.

Track Record

Which institutions has FuKazee worked with?

  • Delivered AI training at the University of Nairobi.
  • ScholarShift postgraduate cohorts have drawn researchers from the University of Nairobi, JKUAT, Kenyatta University, Daystar, KeMU, Kwame Nkrumah University and the University of Glasgow.
  • In FuKazee's April 2026 KCSE holiday programme, 79% of followed-up students improved their grades.
  • Institutional and corporate work also includes the US Embassy in Kenya, Bank of Africa Kenya and Savannah Tracking Limited.

FAQs

Questions deans, principals and registrars ask first.

Is this training for academic staff, administrators, or students?
Primarily for staff: lecturers, teachers, heads of department, registry, finance, admissions and communications teams. Student-facing work is handled by FuKazee's own programmes, ScholarShift for postgraduate researchers and the KCSE programmes for candidates, and can be combined with a staff engagement.
Does the programme help us set an institutional AI policy?
Yes. Module 7 covers ethics, risk and responsible use, and leaves academic leadership, ICT and quality-assurance teams with usage-policy material to adapt for staff and students, including clear written rules on permitted and prohibited AI use in coursework.
Can you deliver on campus for a whole faculty or school?
Yes. Delivery is on campus, at a school, online, or hybrid. A common pattern is a leadership and heads-of-department session first, then faculty or subject-department workshops, then a short session for administrative teams.
Which AI tools do you train lecturers and teachers on?
FuKazee is tool-agnostic and starts with free and low-cost tools so nothing depends on a licence the institution does not have. Sessions cover the main generative AI assistants and research tools, and how to judge which is appropriate for teaching, research and administration.
How long does AI training for an education institution take?
The full seven-module programme typically runs across two to four weeks in half-day sessions and can be scheduled around the academic calendar, including during recess or before a semester opens. Single modules can run as standalone workshops.
How much does AI training for a university or school cost?
Pricing is quoted per engagement based on the number of staff, campuses and modules. Share your institution's size and preferred format and FuKazee will send a formal quotation for your procurement or training-budget process.
